Opera singer Alexandre Khomeriki dies

People's Artist of Georgia, famous opera singer Alexandre Khomeriki has died at the age of 72.

Alexandre Khomeriki joined the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theater in 1977 while being a Tbilisi State Conservatoire student. In 1981-1982 he completed an internship at La Scala in Milan. Among the plays performed by him are Abesalom, Malkhazi (Zacharia Paliashvili's "Absalom and Eteri," "Daisi"), Berdo (Revaz Lagidze's "Lela"), Lensky, Vodemon (P. Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin," "Yolanta"), Jose (Georges Bizet's "Carmen"), Cavaradossi (Giacomo Puccini's "Tosca"), Manrico, Radames, Alfred, Duke, Othello (Giuseppe Verdi's "Trovatore," "Aida," "Traviata," "Rigoletto," "Othello") and others.

Since 1993, Alexandre Khomeriki has been the artistic director and soloist of the Batumi Opera and Ballet Theater.
