'Akhmeta' added to wines from protected place of origin

'Akhmeta' wine has been added to the list of wines from protected places of origin, the National Wine Agency of Georgia reports.

As the National Wine Agency says, the geographic location of Akhmeta microzone and its climate and soil ensure the unique features of the Akhmeta wine.

In addition to the town of Akhmeta, the microzone includes the following villages:

'Akhmeta' white is made of only Kakhetian green grapes harvested in the Akhmeta microzone.

''When making the 'Akhmeta' amber, different grapes harvested in the same zone may be added to the Kakhetian green grapes and include 15% in total,'' the National Wine Agency reports.

A total of 21 names were on the list of the places of origin of Georgian wine so far.
