Aviation oil imports decrease in 2020

As reported by the Union of Oil Importers of Georgia, aviation oil imports sharply decreased in Jan – Aug 2020.

As the business association states, the drop concerns a drastic decrease in flights for the COVID-19 infection.

In August 2020, aviation fuel imports equaled 2,3 thousand tonnes in Georgia.

It is 4,9 thousand tonnes less (58.1%) than the July rate (7,2 thousand tonnes). It is 10,5 thousand tonnes (82%) less than the 2019 same rate (12,8 thousand tonnes).

Turkmenistan imported 65,2% (1,5 thousand tonnes) of the aviation oil in August 2020, while Turkey imported – 34,8% (0,8 thousand tonnes).

In January – August 2020, the aviation oil imports equaled 38,5 thousand tonnes. It is 37,0 thousand tonnes (49%) less than the same Jan – Aug 2019.

In January – August 2020, Turkmenistan imported 80% of the aviation oil, followed by Turkey and Romania, with 5,7% and 0,1%.
