Forestry Agency launches new project

With the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Government of Sweden, the National Forestry Agency is implementing the project "Facilitating the Introduction of Multifunctional Forest Use Practices." The project aims to strengthen the capacity of the agency. Particular emphasis is on the use of tourism and recreational potential in forest areas and ecotourism development.

As the Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Yuri Nozadze, stated at the meeting, the National Forestry Agency is actively working to develop ecotourism in the areas under its management. The development of a network of tourist routes and hiking trails is the main basis for ecotourism development.

In the long run, multipurpose forest use ensures the efficient use of forest ecosystem services and promotes rural development.
