Fruit price highest among other products in Georgia

Fruits prices rose in Georgia by 47%, while the prices on diary rose by 25%, with the meat products price increased by 13.5% and bakery – by 9.2%.

With the data in the background, the annual inflation rate was 6.5% in May 2020.

Price changes mainly influenced inflation in the following groups of goods:

Food and alcoholic beverages - a 14.7% increase. Thus, the group's share in annual inflation was 4.58%.

The following sub-groups also showed the price rise:

Fruits and grapes (+ 47.1%)

Milk, cheese, eggs (+ 24.6%)

Fish (+ 17.1%)

Sugar, jam and other sweets (+14.5 %)

Coffee, tea, and cocoa (+ 13.9%)

Meat and meat products (+ 13.5%)

Vegetable oil and fat (13.1%)

Mineral and spring water

Soft drinks and natural juices ( + 9.5%)

Bread and bakery products (+ 9.2%)

Vegetables and melons (+ 2.7%).

Prices fell by 4.6% in the group of transport. A decrease in prices for the operation of personal vehicles (-6.9%) was also observed.
