Gas price rises in Europe

Gas futures prices in Europe have topped $1,100 for 1,000 cubic meters, ICE data show.

The price of the February futures on the TTF hub in the Netherlands amounted to $1,140 per 1,000 cubic meters; however, it fell to $1,100 later.

On Dec 21, gas futures prices in Europe topped record $2,000 for 1,000 cubic meters minutes after breaking another record of $1,937.

According to the Financial Times, one of the reasons for the increase in gas prices is that Gazprom refused to supply additional volumes through Ukraine, aimed at increasing exports to Europe.
