Georgia increases fish production

In Georgia, in 2019, fish production in farms increased by 3.5% compared to 2019 and totaled 2,464.7 tonnes, the report by the National Statistics Office of Georgia says.

The report reads that the salmon production in 2019 equaled 1,339.8 tonnes, 9.2% less than in 2018.

Production of cyprinids increased by 23.9% - up to 1 012.7 tonnes.

Sturgeon production increased by 29.7% and reached 97.3 tonnes, while the production of catfish increased by 13.5% and hit 14.3 tonnes.

Following the National Statistics Office, the salmon production equals 98.7%.

In 2019, the Georgian region of Kakheti was the leader in fish production followed by the Shida Kartli and Guria regions.
