Georgia may impose CITY TAX tourist fee

Founder of the Georgian Hotels and Restaurants Federation Shalva Alaverdashvili has initiated an imposition of a CITY TAX tourist fee.

He says it is the only way to save the tourism sector.

In Alaverdashvili's words, the fee for tourists is in almost all large cities, including Baku.

He says the fee should not exceed one or two EUR per day.

Shalva Alaverdashvili states that the total tourism sector debt equals 4,5 bln GEL currently.

He believes nobody will manage to pay the sum until June 2021.
