Georgia purchases 827.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity

According to the Georgian Electricity Market Operator, ESCO, in the first two months of 2021, Georgia purchased 827.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, more than 410 million kWh per month. The main suppliers are Russia and Azerbaijan.

521 million kWh of electricity has been purchased from Russia in 2 months, and 299.7 million from Azerbaijan.

January 2021 electricity import figures:

Russia - 262.315 million kWh;

Azerbaijan - 151.78 million kWh;

Total imports - 414.09 million kWh.

In February 2021, Georgia imported electricity from the following markets in the following proportions:

Russia - 258.85 million kWh;

Azerbaijan - 147.94 million kWh;

Turkey - 6. 93 million;

Total imports - 413.72 million kWh.

In 2020, Georgia bought the most electricity from Azerbaijan. Georgia purchased 726 million kilowatt-hours of electricity from this country, equal to 45% of total imports.
