Georgia's economy grew by 5.8% in August

According to preliminary estimates Gross Domestic Product growth was 5.8% in August 2019, compared to 5.0% in the first eight months of 2019.

In August 2019, in comparison with the same period of the previous year, construction, transport, utilities, social and personal services, trade, manufacturing, hotels and restaurants showed the tendency to grow.

There has been a decrease in the mining industry and in the production and distribution of electricity, gas and water.

Consumer price index rose by 4.9%, industrial producer price index by 1.1%, foreign trade turnover by 0.01%, exports increased by 12.4% and imports by 4.4%. During the same period, the number of newly registered enterprises decreased by 24%, while VAT-paying enterprises increased by 16%.
