Georgia's external debt to reach 16.6 bln GEL in 2020-2024

The Georgian Constitution and the Act of Economic Freedom read that the external debt of Georgia concerning GDP should not exceed 60%.

As the latest data say, the indicator totals 58%.

Georgia's external debt has exceeded 18 billion GEL, and by the end of 2020, it will reach 22 billion GEL.

In 2020-2024 the Georgian government plans to take a credit of 16.6 billion GEL.

The projected government figures are as follows:

2020 - 7.1 billion GEL

2021 - 3.4 billion GEL

2022 - 2.1 billion GEL

2023 - 2 billion GEL

2024 - 2 billion GEL

Georgia's external debt has almost doubled since 2013, and the figure tends to triple.
