Ivane Machavariani elected Chairman of ADB Board of Governors

As part of the 53rd annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank, Georgian Finance Minister Ivane Machavariani and ADB Georgian Governor took part in the bank governors' online business session.

Ivane Machavariani was elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors during the meeting.

Notably, Georgia is the host country of the ADB Board of Governors' annual meeting in 2021. About five thousand high-rank guests will take part in the event.

At the meeting, Ivane Machavariani emphasized the importance of Georgia's cooperation with the Asian Development Bank and its role in combating the novel coronavirus pandemic.

He noted that the bank had allocated 20 bln USD in response to the pandemic.

In his words, the pandemic outcomes will be long-term for the economies and will require all the countries' joint work to overcome the challenges.
