"Marneuli Almond" building an almond orchard

Marneuli Almond is planting 60,000 almond seedlings on a 125-hectare plot of land in Marneuli. The project is being implemented with private investment. As the company's representative Levan Diasamidze told report.ge, the project's payback period is 6-7 years. The almonds grown here are entirely for export markets.

"The project is completely private. 100% of the products will be exported to Europe. Unfortunately, almonds' consumption in Georgia is very low; therefore, we are oriented on exports. The project is implemented by the company "Marneuli Almond." We bought 60,000 seedlings from the Spanish company "Vivero Veron" and contracted them for a consultation," Levan Diasamidze explained to report.ge.

After nuts, almonds are the first walnut crop for which demand is growing. Georgia received its first almond crop from commercial gardens last year.
