Money transfers from Azerbaijan to Georgia rise

In April 2020, money transfers from abroad decreased by 42.3% (compared to the same period in 2019) and totaled 79.1 million US dollars.

A total of $10.0 million was sent from Georgia, being 47.7% less than in April 2019.

As the National Bank of Georgia reports, money transfers to Georgia sharply decreased from Kyrgyzstan (-87.7%) and EU countries(-34.9%), namely, from Italy (-27.5%), Spain (-60.4%) and Greece (-37.9%).

Money transfers from Germany changed considerably.

According to the National Bank, remittances increased from Azerbaijan, while money transfers from Turkey and Russia decreased.

Besides, Georgia received a decreased amount of money from Israel (-4.7%) and Kazakhstan (-66.1%).

Italy and Greece are leading among the EU countries in terms of money transfers.
