Salome Zurabishvili, the President of Georgia, has asked the members of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly for assistance in the release of Vazha Gaprindashvili.
Speaking at the assembly, Zurabishvili said that no one needs to escalate the situation, neither in the region nor in Europe.
"One month has passed since the Gaprindashvili was illegally detained," Zurabishvili said.
Vazha Gaprindashvili was arrested on November 9, near the village of Orchosani. The de facto regime has launched a criminal case against the doctor. Tskhinvali's occupation regime has sentenced Vazha Gaprindashvili to a two-month pre-trial detention.
