Third TPP to be constructed in Gardabani, Georgia

The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation has announced an international price inquiry for constructing the third combined thermal power plant "Gardabani-3".

The new TPP will be built on a land plot owned by the corporation, next to the existing TPPs - Gardabani-1 and Gardabani-2.

The contractor company is obliged to staff at least 50% of the personnel required for construction with Georgian citizens.

The decision to build a third combined cycle thermal power plant in the municipality of Gardabani with a capacity of 272 MW was made last year, and its commissioning will start by 2023.

In the beginning of 2020, the Gardabani TPP-2 thermal power plant was equipped with the latest technologies with an installed 230 MW capacity opened in Gardabani.

If required, the station will be able to provide over 10% of Georgia's electricity consumption.

The Gardabani TPP-2 was built with investments of up to USD 180 million from the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation.

The construction of "Gardabanskaya TPP-2" was carried out by China Tianchen Engineering Corporation (TCC).
