Georgia is involved in a free trade mode with China.
Since Georgia and China signed a free trade deal in 2017, the export rate to China increased, but the import from China also significantly grew.
Under the data of the National Statistics Office of Georgia, the export from Georgia to China included 201 million USD before the free trade deal.
As reported by the Statistics Office, Georgia exported the goods of 227.6 million USD to China in 2019.
The top ten of exported product are as follows:
- Copper ores and concentrates - 172.2 million USD;
- Natural grape wines - 18.8 million USD;
- Equipment required for medical or veterinary use - 12.9 million USD;
- Precious metal ores and concentrates - 5.7 million USD;
- Spices – 3,6 million USD;
- Hazelnuts and walnuts – 3.4 million USD;
- Laboratory and diagnostic reagents – 2.7 million USD;
- Orthopedic tools; artificial body parts – 2.02 million USD;
- Non-denatured ethyl alcohol, alcoholic beverages with alcoholic strength less than 80% - 839.7 thousand USD;
- Non-processed aluminum – 779,1 thousand USD.
The Georgian government has not imposed any regulation on the export to China due to Coronavirus yet.
As a reminder, in 2019, the goods imported from China were 858.6 million USD.
