The Yandex Taxi Company has admitted that it provides the Russian authorities with information on its customers.
As Russian media outlets report, former police officer Igor Lyakhovets released this information.
As a result of the public protest, he faced charges with falsification of evidence against journalist Ivan Golunov.
According to him, he found out the journalist's address as well as the history of his trips as he requested this info from ''Yandex Taxi.''
''Yandex Taxi" confirmed that it transmitted information about Golunov's trips to security forces, adding the company acted under the law.
''Yandex Taxi " operates in many post-Soviet countries. It started operation in Georgia in 2016.
