Court allows Prosecutor's Office to remove materials from "TV Pirveli"

The judge granted the motion of the prosecutor's office and gave permission to remove the materials from "TV Pirveli." The case concerns the secret audio recordings that aired on Nodar Meladze's "Shabati," March 6.

However, the prosecutor's office did not request the scandalous audio recordings, but an envelope and an electronic carrier allegedly provided to journalists.

Nodar Meladze, the host of the TV channel, says that the prosecutor's office's goal is not to investigate the facts but to find the source. He says journalists will protect the source.

"It is clear from the judge's decision and the prosecutor's motion that their goal is not to investigate the facts cited in the journalistic investigation, but rather, their goal is to somehow, directly or indirectly, find the source. It is our duty to protect the source, as well as not telling the information directly during the interrogation, and not pointing to the source," Meladze said.
