Employees of the Tbilisi Main Division of the Investigation Department of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia arrested a senior specialist of the Eastern Regional Division of the Environmental Supervision Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection for taking a bribe.
The accused, in Dusheti municipality, in order to obtain a personal material benefit, in exchange for the removal of the fertile land layer of the forest fund in its area, demanded GEL 15,000 as a bribe. He was receiving GEL 10 000 at the time of the arrest.
As a punishment, the accused faces up to 7 to 11 years in prison.
