Officers of the Tbilisi Main Division of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative and investigative actions, detained I.N., born in 1971, on charges of illegal purchase, storage, and carrying of firearms and ammunition in Tbilisi.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the crime is punishable by 4 to 7 years in prison.
"Law enforcers seized a firearm allegedly belonging to the accused on Tamarashvili Street in Tbilisi as evidence. A relevant examination will be appointed," the statement reads.
The investigation is underway under the 3rd and 4th parts of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which stipulates illegal purchase, storage, and carrying of firearms and ammunition.
