The Tbilisi Court of Appeals upheld the appeal of the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia and sentenced the accused of rape of a minor to pre-trial detention as a measure of restraint.

"On May 19 and 20, 2021, a minor raped an 8-year-old child.
The juvenile was charged with Article 137, Part 4, Subparagraph "g" of the Criminal Code of Georgia (rape committed against a minor with prior knowledge (two episodes), which is punishable by up to 12 years in prison following the requirements of the Juvenile Justice Code.
