Prosecutor's office releases statement regarding the arrest of Giorgi Kalandadze

The Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia has issued a statement regarding the detention of former Chief of General Staff Gigi Kalandadze in Germany. The Agency will apply to the German side for the extradition of a wanted person to Georgia within the timeframe established by law.

"The law enforcement bodies of the Federal Republic of Germany arrested Giorgi Kalandadze, wanted by the Georgian law enforcement bodies, on December 19, 2021, at the Berlin airport.

The indictment against Giorgi Kalandadze envisages imprisonment for a term of twelve to seventeen years," the statement said.
