U.S. Ambassador Kelly Degnan said that they are concerned about Mikheil Saakashvili's health condition.
In Degnan's words, when health is at issue, supervision by highly qualified specialists is mandatory.
''We are glad that a multi-profile team monitors his health condition. We are also keeping a close eye on him,'' Degnan declared.
Mikheil Saakashvili was detained on 1 October. He declared a hunger strike 27 days ago.
