Georgia to get 27,000 tonnes of wheat from United States

Georgia will get 27,000 tonnes of high-quality wheat from the United States, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan said in her video address. In Degnan's words, Georgia received 27, 000 tonnes of wheat in December, with all these measures taken by the US in view of the fact that the country banned the export of wheat and other cereals due to the global pandemic. The Ambassador added that the wheat is being donated to the country within the Food for Progress Program the budget of which amounts to $14,5 mln.

In late May, the U.S. Department of Agriculture plans to sign 18 small grant agreements in the amount of $400,000, which aims to strengthen the farming sector in the country and improve food safety standards.
