Human Rights Committee Chairman says he may visit jailed Georgian ex-president

Mikheil Sarjveladze, the Human Rights Committee Chairman, says that if the necessity surfaces, he will visit ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili in prison.

In Sarjveladze's words, the ombudsman is being kept in the loop, and they are exchanging information with the penitentiary facility, which is why there is no need to visit Saakashvili for now.

Mikheil Saakashvili was detained on 1 October.

He declared a hunger strike 20 days ago.
