Mikheil Saakashvili's whereabouts known

According to the Special Penitentiary Service, Georgian ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili has been taken to the Gldani prison hospital.

''In order to prevent the deterioration of his health condition and due to increased hazards, inmate Mikheil Saakashvili has been taken to No18 Treatment Facility for Accused and Convicted Prisoners. We will regularly provide the public with further information,'' the statement reads.

A helicopter was noticed hovering above the Rustavi jail an hour ago.

According to preliminary information, Mikheil Saakashvili was transferred to Gori Military Hospital.

Saakashvili's mother said earlier that they ''made him vanish'' somewhere.

Ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili, who was detained on Oct 1, has been on a hunger strike for 39 days now.
