Office of the State Minister: The so-called Enguri passage is open

"From July 5, 2021, the so-called Enguri crossing is fully open, which will allow the population of the occupied Abkhazia region to cross into the territory controlled by the central government of Georgia or move to occupied Abkhazia," the statement of the Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality reveals.

"It has been more than a year since the occupation regime imposed illegal restrictions on free movement, which were gradually lifted on February 11, 2021, as a result of efforts made with the support of international organizations. The first stage provided for the right of movement only for certain categories of people (elderly, pensioners, large families, people with disabilities, and people with special needs), but today, free movement is fully restored.

The central government of Georgia is making every effort, using all the mechanisms at our disposal and with the involvement of international partners, to fully ensure the fundamental right of free movement of the population living in the occupied territories of Georgia," the Ministry states.
