Prime Minister: Occupation remains a challenge

Giorgi Gakharia, the Prime Minister of Georgia, summed up the year 2019 at today's government session.

"This year was full of challenges, as well as achievements. Unfortunately, occupation remains the most important challenge in our country. 20% of our territories are occupied, which is a restriction for the development of our human capital and our country's potential. It is important to remember the obstacles our citizens face on both sides of the occupation line. Fortunately, the illegal detention of a Georgian doctor has ended peacefully, but right now, the freedom of movement for Akhalgori residents is restricted, the humanitarian problem is also one of the main obstacles. The response of our country, government, and citizens to this tough challenge is that over 70% of our citizens support the country's Euro-Atlantic integration," the Prime Minister stated.
