Roman Gotsiridze: This is an anti-constitutional decision

The chairperson of the faction United National Movement calls the draft amendments to the Law on Health Care unconstitutional.

According to Roman Gotsiridze, the government can be given the right to take restrictive measures only during a state of emergency.

The deputy does not rule out that the government will use restrictive measures before the elections.

"In the pre-election period, when the government will be equipped with all the levers, including administrative and law enforcement agencies, there is a risk that the Georgian Dream can use all the rights mentioned above. In conditions like this, it is doubtful to hold the elections freely and fairly.

In the first case, the government had this right only one month (before July 15). By the end of the year, equipping the government with these rights means that the government will have the opportunity to conduct various manipulations during the pre-election period under the pretext of a pandemic," Roman Gotsiridze said.

According to the draft amendment to the Law on Health, without the declaration of a state of emergency, the government might have the right to impose restrictive measures until the end of 2020.
