UNM aims to remove Ivanishvili from history, according to Papuashvili

The Chairman of the Education and Science Committee, Shalva Papuashvili, has responded to their decision to include an excerpt about Bidzina Ivanishvili in ninth graders' history books.

In Papuashvili's words, the UNM is trying to involve politics in education. As Papuashvili said, by focusing on the excerpt about Bidzina Ivanishvili in the books of modern history which students are required to learn in accordance with the National Curriculum, they are seeking to remove Ivanishvili from history.

In ninth-graders' history book, Ivanishvili has been dubbed a philanthropist. A protest rally has been held outside the Ministry of Education recently, with activists protesting against their move to include Bidzina Ivanishvili and some Rose Revolution scenes in students' history books.
