The United States Department of State has responded to the meeting between Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.
“The United States welcomes the Georgia and Russia meeting facilitated by Switzerland. We support Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and urge Russia to end its illegal occupation and decrease tensions along the Administrative Boundary Line” writes U.S. State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus on Twitter.
The meeting, facilitated by Switzerland, was conducted on Sept 26, in New York, within the UN General Assembly.
