How will COVID-19 vaccine work?

Ugur Sahin, the first coronavirus vaccine creator and founder of the BioNTech pharmaceutical company, has provided BBC with information on the vaccine efficiency and working rule.

Sahin says it will become known in the following three weeks if the vaccine is successful in older people as it was in the young.

He says it is unknown how long the immunity lasts after the second dose of the vaccine is received.

A total of 43,000 people took part in the test. Professor Sahin said that the main adverse effects are mild and include a dull pain in the injection area.

Several research participants had a low temperature as well.

“No severe adverse effect was observed,’’ he added.

The BioNTech vaccine is one of the 11 vaccines being on the final stage of testing.
