According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health, a total of 49 cases of infection were confirmed at the Center.
As Gamkrelidze noted, most of the infected employees have already recovered.
"The Center has its main offices in Tbilisi: Lugar Laboratory and Head office. We also have nine more departments in the regions, and we had a total of 49 infected people as of Monday, but most of them have recovered and returned to work. We have one unfortunate fact; a leading epidemiologist died in Kutaisi," Gamkrelidze said.
5 068 new patients tested positive for coronavirus in Georgia, while 2 336 patients defeated the virus.
According to stopcov.ge, 152 704 people have COVID-19 in the country, of which 126 904 already recovered.
1 425 people died due to the virus in Georgia, 38 of them during the last 24 hours.
