Amiran Gamkrelidze addresses parents and heads of schools

Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control, gave parents and school principals recommendations and warned them not to send their children to school in case of fever or other respiratory symptoms.

According to Gamkrelidze, mobility will increase in a week after the start of the school year.

"I appeal to parents not to send a child to school in case of a fever or respiratory syndrome and call 112 to manage the case with a doctor's consultation. I also appeal to the school authorities to have constant thermal screening and not allow a child with a high temperature to go to school. It is very important," Gamkrelidze said.

As for higher education institutions, the main recommendation of Amiran Gamkrelidze is that both lecturers and students should wear a mask.

"Schools and higher education institutions should be cleaned by wet methods daily. Periodic disinfection is mandatory; distance should be maintained in the teaching process. Where it can be replaced by distance learning, the wider use of the hybrid model is necessary to be safe in case of the greater mobility, so when 120-130 students go to universities and three times more students to schools, avoid further intensification of the infection in the country," Gamkrelidze said.

Fifty-seven new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Georgia today.
