Amiran Gamkrelidze explains how much the existing vaccines protect us from "Omicron"

According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, the Director of the National Center for Disease Control, the existing vaccines against the new strain of coronavirus, Omicron, are also effective in preventing the severe course of the disease and lethal outcome.

"Vaccination is the main tool for prevention, because even in the conditions of the new strain, despite the sharply increased number of infected, remember that the vaccine protects against Omicron from complications and mortality. All vaccines authorized by WHO have protection against two major complications - hospitalization and mortality," Gamkrelidze said.
