Metropolitan Bishop of Vani and Baghdati Eparchy (diocese), father Anton, has tested positive for coronavirus, Tsisana Shartava, the patriarch's personal doctor, said.
The bishop shows mild symptoms and is in the clinic. He tested positive on 3 January.
Father Anton's all contacts went into self-isolation, including the patriarch's secretary, Shorena Tetruashvili.
According to Tsisana Shartava, the infected bishop has not contacted the patriarch.
