COVID-19-infected and death number increases in Georgia

Georgia has detected 248 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection, and the number of infected reached 270,758, StopCov.ge reports.

A total of 525 people recovered, with the total number hitting 265,114.

The virus claimed 11 lives in the past 24 hours, and the number of the death toll equaled 3,510.

Georgia conducted 27,885 tests in the past 24 hours, including fast antigen tests equaling 18,814 and PCR tests – 9,071.

Test positivity rates are as follows:

Daily – 0.89%,

Over the past 14 days – 1.96%,

Over the past seven days – 1.55%

Georgia observed the first case of the novel coronavirus infection on February 26, 2020.

The World Health Organization declared the pandemic on March 11.

The pneumonia-causing infection outbreak began in China in December 2019.

On January 21, 2020, China confirmed the virus's human-to-human transmission and declared a quarantine in its two cities.
