Current situation of "Omicron", observed in Georgia

According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, the head of the National Center for Disease Control, the Omicron strain, which has recently been confirmed in Georgia, is easily transmitted.

Compared to its predecessors, this strain more easily affects young people, children, and those under 40.

"The ability to transmit rapidly has been detected. It spreads about 3-4 times faster.

So far, the new strain has been observed in more than 90 countries today, and the condition of patients is relatively light. But it is difficult to predict how it will develop in the future because it can spread quickly and be easily transmitted," said Amiran Gamkrelidze.
