Georgia coronavirus death toll rises high

The novel coronavirus infection claimed another 37 people in the past 24 hours, Georgian official Berdia Sitchinava said.

In his words, since February 2020, Georgia has observed 1,462 deaths of the novel coronavirus.

Georgia detected 5,450 cases of the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, while the total number of infected hit 158,154.

A total of 2,306 patients have recovered, and the number of recoveries equaled 129,210.

Georgia observed the first case of the novel coronavirus infection on February 26, 2020.

The World Health Organization declared the pandemic on March 11.

The pneumonia-causing infection outbreak began in China in December 2019.

On January 21, 2020, China confirmed the virus's human-to-human transmission and declared a quarantine in its two cities.
