Georgian Public Defender says police's efforts worth appreciating

Georgian ombudsmen Nino Lomjaria said that the police had managed to ensure Tbilisi pride event participants' safety, and this is worthy of appreciation. She hopes that the police will keep doing a good job.

Lomjaria also stressed that some groups of people subjecting others to hatred is sad and concerning.

''I do hope that nothing will change and the upcoming events, together with Pride march, will be held peacefully. Hopefully, police will show a strong sense of responsibility, and we will manage to hold the event in a safe environment,'' the public defender stated.

Pride March is set to be held on 5 July, with its slogan being ''Join us to Show Solidarity.''
