Has coronavirus affected nurse contacted with patients?

A nurse who belongs to so-called Saburtalo cluster has not performed her job-related duties at the University Clinic since 30 April, according to Clinical Director of the Clinic Lali Turdzeladze.

"All tests have been done in accordance with the Lugar Protocol, whether it be rapid or PCR tests. All employees working their shifts with us are subject to these tests. Our staff members work 15 days before they are replaced by new members. One brigade enters the Clinic, the other leaves, and the employees spend 15 days and nights working their shifts. After 15 days, they are subjected to PCR tests so that they can leave the Clinic virus-free. This woman had also had her test done and was virus-free; however, she returned infected," Lali Turdzeladze said, adding that when the nurse returned to the Clinic on 28 May, she was transported to a medical facility without communicating with anybody inside the Clinic.

So-called Saburtalo cluster was formed after seven members of one family in a Saburtalo apartment building tested positive for the new coronavirus. The nurse is also a member of the same family, and she supposedly infected her family members. Per today's data, Saburtalo now has 23 infected people, with some of them quarantined.
