Health official says vaccination is of vital importance for Georgia

“Georgia boasts the lowest COVID mortality rate among 41 European countries,” Director-General of Infectious Diseases, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Research Center, Tengiz Tsertsvadze, said.

In his words, Georgia has 41 dead outside the hospital, while this number is high in Europe and the US.

“For example, about 7,000 patients lost life outside a hospital in the UK,’’ he said in his letter.

“All this happens while Georgia has not yet started vaccination unlike Europe and US and boasts milder restrictions,’’ Tsertsvadze says, adding Germany, Italy, France, UK, and other countries still see harsh restrictions.

In his words, the pandemic is well-managed in Georgia, and vaccination will support to end it.
