Low temperatures and glazed snow have resulted in imposing traffic restrictions on roads. Trailers and semi-trailers have been banned on the Gudauri-Kobi road, according to the Roads Department of Georgia. Other modes of transport are permitted.
"On the Gudauri (Posta)-Kobi section of the highway, uninterrupted traffic flow will prove possible only through the anti avalanche tunnels," the statement by the Roads Department reads.
Restrictions have also been put in place on Alpana-Tsageri, Choma-Shovi, Shrosha-Zestaponi roads and the Zestaponi city entrance, where cars have been stuck in massive 5 km traffic jam.
