Paata Imnadze: Forecasts do not allow us to calm down

Paata Imnadze, the deputy director-general of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, said the spread of the Omicron strain does not allow for a slowdown. He said vaccination is still crucial.

"This year was very difficult for the whole world as well as for Georgia; quite a lot were killed in the corona pandemic. It was a very difficult test for the medical sector. There were days when the medical sector worked on the edge.

Given how widespread Omicron has become around the world, the prognosis does not allow us to calm down, and of course, the vaccine still remains the first means that can save our lives," Paata Imnadze said.
