Penitentiary Service issues information on ex-president Saakashvili's health state

The Special Penitentiary Service has released information on ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili's state of health, saying that he is in stable condition.

''Mikheil Saakashvili is stable. A doctor rheumatologist will soon release a statement on this issue,'' the statement reads. 

Lawyer Beka Basilaia said earlier that ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili collapsed after meeting lawyers, and was taken away on a stretcher.

Former President Mikheil Saakashvili, detained on 1 October, has been on a hunger strike for 49 days now.
