PM Giorgi Gakharia publishes condolence letter

Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia has responded to the recent Croatia earthquake by publishing a condolence letter on Twitter.

"Deeply saddened by the news of another powerful earthquake in Croatia. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a quick recovery to those injured. Georgia stands together with the friendly people of Croatia during these difficult times," he tweeted.

A deadly 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit Croatia, killing at least one person and causing severe damage to the town of Petrinja south-east of the capital Zagreb.

A 12-year-old girl was killed in the tremor and 20 people were injured, authorities confirmed.

"At the moment, the ruins are being searched to see if anyone else is left in the ruins, in order to get them out in time," Prime Minister Andrej Plenković told the press.
