Why Georgia's ski resorts remain closed?

Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Maia Tskitishvili said that sky resorts have remained closed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection.

In her words, only some countries have lifted restrictions in their ski resorts. She also added that catching COVID on uncrowded slopes is impossible, but in Bakuriani, for example, 30,000 people gather when ski season is fully underway there.

The minister stressed that restricting the opening of the winter sports destinations is now mandatory, which is why hotels there have remained closed so far.

Following the decision by the Coordination Council, coronavirus restrictions in Bakuriani, Gudauri, and Goderdzi ski resorts have remained in force.
