241 cases of COVID-19 recorded at the Tokyo Paralympic Games

The number of people infected with COVID-19 among those accredited at the Paralympic Games has increased to 241. In the last few days, the coronavirus has been confirmed by 11 other people who are in Japan as part of the Games, the organizing committee announced.

Newly infected include: one athlete, a committee member, a volunteer, and five contractors.

All infected are in quarantine.

The Paralympic Games started on August 24.

Approximately 4 400 athletes from 160 teams will take part in the Games.

Like the Olympics, participants will undergo daily coronavirus tests, wear masks, and maintain a social distance.

The Paralympic Games will be held without spectators.
