French tycoon Bernard Tapie beaten by robbers

Former French minister and scandal-ridden tycoon Bernard Tapie, the former owner of Adidas, was attacked along with his wife during a night-time burglary of their home near Paris, police said Sunday, French media say.

Bernard Tapie and his wife were sleeping in their house in Combs-la-Ville in Seine-et-Marne when criminals entered their home, obviously to commit a burglary.

The spouses were attacked, molested, according to our information gathered from a police source. The couple was beaten and tied up.

Reports say Bernard Tapie, in particular, received a baton on the head. The criminals took jewelry away.
